چکیده

In this paper, we propose a novel super-agent-based framework for reputation management and community formation in decentralized systems. We describe this framework in the context of Web service selection where agents with more capabilities act as super-agents. These super-agents serve as reputation managers to maintain reputation information of services and share the information with other consumer agents that have fewer capabilities than the super-agents. In addition, super-agents can maintain communities and build community-based reputation for a service based on the opinions from all community members that have similar interests and judgement criteria as the super-agents or the other community members. A practical reward mechanism is also introduced to create incentives for super-agents to contribute their resources (to maintain reputation and form communities) and provide truthful reputation information. Experimental results obtained through simulation confirm that our approach achieves better effectiveness and scalability compared to the systems that do not use super-agents and that do not form communities.

A Generic Framework for Modeling Decentralized Reputation-based Trust Models

Decentralized applications do not have a single centralized authority that can safeguard peers in the system from malicious attacks. Each peer is autonomous and must adopt measures to protect itself. Reputation-based trust management systems enable peers to develop trust relationships with each other based on their reputations. These trust relationships help a peer determine the trustworthiness...

TREF: A Threat-Centric Comparison Framework for Decentralized Reputation Models

In a decentralized system, entities, also known as peers, directly interact with each other and make local autonomous decisions towards their individual goals. In an open decentralized system, there is no single centralized authority that can regulate the entry of peers in the system. As a result, the system may contain malicious peers that try to disrupt the system and carry out attacks on oth...

Decentralized prognosis of fuzzy discrete-event systems

This paper gives a decentralized approach to the problem of failure prognosis in the framework of fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES). A notion of co-predictability is formalized for decentralized prognosis of FDESs, where several local agents with fuzzy observability rather than crisp observability are used in the prognosis task. An FDES is said to be co-predictable if each faulty event can be...

Trust Management in Partially Decentralized Peer To Peer File Sharing System

Trust management for peers in P2P network is very much important due to its open and anonymous nature. In this paper, we propose a reputation based trust management scheme for partially decentralized peer-to-peer file sharing systems. Reputation data is stored at the super node level. We calculate the reputation value for each file by using fuzzy logic inferences, which can better handle uncert...

Reputation-based Trust Management in Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Systems

Trust is required in file sharing peer-to-peer (P2P) systems to achieve better cooperation among peers and reduce malicious uploads. In reputation-based P2P systems, reputation is used to build trust among peers based on their past transactions and feedbacks from other peers. In these systems, reputable peers will usually be selected to upload requested files, decreasing significantly malicious...
